About Me

Ey up! I’m Abs,

An independent celebrant based in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire.

I’m on a quest to spread love, joy and soulful vibes through the art of storytelling and by crafting joyful, relaxed and meaningful ceremonies for people who want to celebrate all of life’s merriments.

Life threw me a series of life-affirming moments, leading me to train to become a celebrant, and now I feel so honoured to commemorate other people’s stories through ceremony and celebration.

As well as a celebrant, I am also:

A proud northerner, a Preston North End fan, a lover of art, music, 70’s fashion and daft comedy.

I’m a warm & friendly soul who loves nothing more than having a laugh.

A good book with a brew, a pub quiz, a painting/crafting session, a ramble in the hills & trees, live music, comedy nights, quality time with my friends & family, and the occasional pint of cask ale - are all what brings me joy!

I’m drawn to nature and love being outdoors, and I’m so lucky to live in the mystical Calder Valley, with my partner, Bob and our sassy cat, Misty.

Caring for others is in my bones. I qualified as a mental health nurse in 2016 and still practice now. Over the years, I’ve worked with and cared for some mega inspirational people. As a nurse, you get to know people and their families on a deeper level to ultimately improve lives. Listening & helping others fulfils me. It’s not too dissimilar to being a celebrant. I’m interested in others and want to bring people’s stories to life through celebration.
